Won Special Mention from the Alcuin Society of Canada for the Best Designed Canadian Children's Book 2006

Nominated for the Red Cedar Award 2008

Elisa Guttierez and Tradewind Books won honourable mention for the 2006 Alcuin Awards for best designed Canadian book in the children's book category for Nannycatch Chronicles by James Heneghan and Bruce McBay and illustrated by Geraldo Valerio. The Alcuin winners will be displayed at the Frankfurt Bookfair and will be entered into a world-wide book design competition as part of the Leipzig Bookfair.

A bit of black humour for primary school age kids who will appreciate the tongue-in-cheek tales of Uncle Possum in the Nannycatch Meadows. Poor Uncle Possum! Or should we say: poor animal folk of Nannycatch who have to put up with him. In the spirit of Uncle Remus, young readers will delight in these cheeky tales.

James Heneghan is one of today’s foremost authors of fiction for young adults. He has won British Columbia's Sheila Egoff Award for Children's Literature three times and his novel, "Wish Me Luck", was nominated for the prestigious Governor General’s Award. He lives in Vancouver, BC.

Bruce McBay is a frequent collaborator with James Heneghan and "Waiting For Sarah", a novel which he co-wrote with James, was short-listed for the OLA's Silver Birch award and won the 2005 MANITOBA YOUNG READERS' CHOICE AWARD. Bruce McBay is the department head of Learning Support Staff at a Burnaby Secondary School. As a teacher, he is interested in writing books for reluctant readers.

Born in Brazil, Geraldo Valério also lives in Vancouver, BC. He began his career in children’s publishing with A Cobra Zola, published by Le Publishing House and recently illustrated Do You Have a Hat? for Simon and Schuster Books for Young People.
